Rockliffe Hall,  5* North East Luxury Hotel & Golf Course - Oct 2009

The Sound Workshop were commissioned to design and install a distributed multi-channel music system throughout the hotel, delivering themed music to the designated areas. The hotel also had seperate AV requirements in other other key areas, which had to intergrate with the distributed system.

The Sound Workshop chose the Bose Controlspace ESP88 system working alongside three Cloud 4 x 250 Watt amplifiers feeding a mixture of speakers supplied by Bose and RCF.

Local I/P and control facilities were provided for the Gym, Bistro, Restaurant, Function Rooms and Lounge Areas, with projectors and screens provided within the meeting rooms.

A fibre-optic Ethernet, links the Main Sound System to the Golf Club House, which has a standalone Cloud DCM System providing a four zone AV System.

The system was very challenging due to the integration of different types of hardware and the distances involved between the Old Hall and the New Spa, where over 200m of multicore cables were installed.

There are a total of five hard drives providing themed music throughout the hotel & Spa areas, supplied by TSG Media.

The project was carried out in partnership with Peter Tyson's of Carlisle.

The Brighouse Civic Theatre - July 2009

As part of a 3million refurbishment of the Civic Hall, The Sound Workshop were instructed to design and install a theatrical lighting and sound system.  This is a multi use venue for hire to the local community and therefore required a sound and lighting system that would be easy to use.

The Bose MA12/MB4 line source sound system is very controllable in the hall and allows the use of  radiomicrophones very near to the speakers.  The full range capability of the system enables music and cinema to be enjoyed without the need for indiscreet speakers mounted everywhere.

The lighting rig is based around 48 channels of Chille dimming, which controls 2 x 12 way and 2 x 6way spot bars with two 24 lamp batterns.  The system is used on a day to day basis by a 12 position pre-set panel, with the option to connect a DMX lighting desk.

The Rose Bowl, Leeds University - March 2009

Following the success of the Bose MA12 installation at The Ghandi Hall, John Lynch of The Leeds Metropolitan University specified that a similar system was to be installed in The Rosebowl.  The programme sound is provided through 2 x 4 metre Bose MA12 line source columns and the speech through 2 x Bose 502A articulated arrays, with the bass for both supplied by a single flown Bose 502B.

This system provides high intelligibility with even coverage to every seat in this steeply raked 250 seater lecture theatre.  The Bose ESP88 sound processor provides full acoustic control of the whole system, whilst interfaced to the in-house AMX control.

The building also has 2 x 125 seat and 4 x 65 seat lecture theatres, which have been covered by RCF ceiling speakers with hidden Bose Freespace subs.  the amplification is Cloud and is controlled by AMX.

The Rose Bowl project was carried out in partnership with AV Machines.
